Harish Kalyan is an Indian actor and playback singer born on 29 June 1990 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He hails from a Tamil Brahmin family; his father, Five Star Kalyan, is a prominent Tamil film distributor and music label owner - an entertainment background that gave Harish early exposure to the industry. He completed his schooling at Balalok Matriculation School, Chennai, and earned a degree in Visual Communication from Annamalai University. He is also a trained Hindustani classical singer and keyboard player. He made his film debut in the rural romantic drama Sindhu Samaveli (2010) opposite Amala Paul. His career gained momentum with Poriyaalan (2014, dir. K. V. Anand) and Vil Ambu (2016). The romantic comedy Pyaar Prema Kaadhal (2018, dir. Elan, with music by Yuvan Shankar Raja) - in which he starred alongside his Bigg Boss co-contestant Raiza Wilson - was his biggest hit, earning him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut (South) and multiple other awards. He has since starred in films including Ispade Rajavum Idhaya Raniyum (2019), Dharala Prabhu (2020), Oh Manapenne (2021), Let's Get Married (2023), Parking (2023), and Lubber Pandhu (2024). In August 2017, he entered Bigg Boss Tamil Season 1 as a wildcard contestant in Week 8 alongside Suja Varunee and Kaajal Pasupathi, and was granted immunity for the first two weeks after his entry. He finished as Third Runner-Up on 30 September 2017. He is married to Valentina Ragu (February 2023).
