Sanjeev Venkatasubramanian is an Indian film and television actor born on 28 September 1975 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He is the nephew of the late actress Manjula Vijayakumar and a close personal friend of Kollywood superstar Vijay. He completed his education in Visual Communications at Loyola College, Chennai. He made his acting debut as a child artist in the Tamil film Ponmana Selvan (1989). His television career took off with the long-running Sun TV daily soap Thirumathi Selvam (2007-13), in which he played the beloved character Selvam - a role that earned him the Tamil Nadu State Award for Best Television Actor in 2008. He subsequently starred in Yaaradi Nee Mohini (Zee Tamil), Kanmani (Sun TV), Vaanathai Pola (Vijay TV), and other serials. He also hosted the long-running dance reality show Maanada Mayilada (2007-13) on Kalaignar TV, among other hosting assignments. He appeared in the Vijay starrer Master (2021) in a supporting role. In November 2021, he entered Bigg Boss Tamil Season 5 as a wildcard contestant, quickly winning over audiences with his warmth and wit. He was eliminated in Week 13 (Day 91), finishing eighth.
