Upen Patel (born 16 August 1982 in London, England) is a British actor from a Gujarati family who has worked predominantly in Hindi and Tamil cinema. He grew up in London before moving to Mumbai to pursue modelling and acting. He made his Bollywood debut in 36 China Town (2006) and went on to appear in a string of mainstream Hindi films including Namastey London (2007, alongside Akshay Kumar), Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani (2009), Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge (2011), and Race 2 (2013). His most significant non-Bollywood role was in director Shankar's Tamil blockbuster I (2015) alongside Vikram and Amy Jackson. He hosted MTV Love School alongside Bigg Boss 8 co-contestant Karishma Tanna and participated in Nach Baliye 7 (2015). In September 2014, he entered Bigg Boss Season 8 as one of the original contestants. His relationship with Karishma Tanna was one of the season's defining storylines. He was evicted in a surprise midnight eviction in Week 14 (Day 100), finishing 8th overall.
