Vaiyapuri (full name Vaiyapuri Vairamuththu) is a veteran Tamil film comedian and character actor born on 4 July 1960 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He began his career in the Tamil film industry in the early 1990s and established himself as one of Tamil cinema's most recognisable comedy faces over the following three decades, appearing in over 200 films. He is known for his comic timing, expressive face, and ability to play both broad comedy and grounded supporting roles. His career highlights include memorable performances in Kadhal Kondein (2003), Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu (2006), Bheema (2008), Mankatha (2011), and numerous other mainstream Tamil productions alongside stars like Vijay, Ajith Kumar, and Kamal Haasan. In June 2017, he entered Bigg Boss Tamil Season 1 as one of the 15 original contestants. Despite multiple nominations, he lasted 83 days in the house before being evicted in Week 12, finishing 7th overall.
