Sameer Acharya, born on 28 April, is an Indian priest, spiritual scholar, and social worker from Karnataka. He is a multi-instrumentalist who loves music and is also an avid reader. He hosted and appeared in the TV show Daari Deepa, through which he shared innovative ideas and inspired many people. In 2017, he participated in Bigg Boss Kannada Season 5, becoming the first captain of the season as a commoner contestant. He entered the show with the goal of winning the prize money to build a school in his native place. During his time on the show, he was involved in a controversy when wildcard contestant Samyuktha Hegde accused him of inappropriate behaviour, though she later retracted the allegation in the confession room.
