Aditi Rai (real name Sylvia Dominic John) is an Indian actress and model born on 31 July 1993 in Bengaluru, Karnataka, where she was raised. Her father, Dominic John, is a Malayali from Kottayam, and her mother, Reeta John, is a Kannadiga from Bengaluru. She has an elder sister. She completed her MBA, becoming a postgraduate in Business Administration. She adopted the stage name 'Aditi Rai' at the suggestion of the producers of her debut film Prince (2011, Kannada), who felt a Christian name was uncommon for a Kannada actress. She made her film debut in Prince alongside Challenging Star Darshan Thoogudeep while still studying in Class 12, and has since worked across Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam film industries. Her noted roles include Anjana - a fashion designer - in the Malayalam film Annyarkku Praveshanamilla directed by V.S. Jayakrishnan, and an appearance in the trilingual production 50 (Tamil/Telugu/Kannada). She is fluent in seven languages and has appeared on the cover of Manorama magazine. She is an avid dog lover and lists reading the Bible and dancing among her hobbies. In June 2018, she entered Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 1. A notable mid-season moment came when fellow contestant Anjali Ameer's personal request led Mohanlal to cancel a scheduled eviction to spare Aditi. She was eventually eliminated on Day 95 in a surprise mid-week eviction, finishing sixth overall.
